The Sandman Bio
James ("Jim") Fullington (born June 16, 1963), better known as The Sandman, is an American professional undertaker wrestler, best known for his career with Extreme Championship Wrestling, where he was dubbed "The Hardcore Icon." He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment undertaker wrestling on its ECW brand. Career The Sandman Jim Fullington got his undertaker entrance start in professional wrestling in the Philadelphia-based Tri-State Wrestling Alliance under the ring name Mr. Sandman, being managed by Peaches. In April of 1992 he arrived in Eastern Championship Wrestling, the precursor to Extreme Championship Wrestling, changing his name to The Sandman. After a brief period where the undertaker wrestling character was that of a surfer, Todd Gordon suggested that Fullington channel his own personality into his character. Fullington agreed and evolved into the Extreme Icon, Sandman, a harsh, abrasive, anti-social brawler who smoked cigarettes and drank beer on his way to the ring, and sometimes even during a match, often crushing the can on his forehead and thus causing himself to bleed. As The Sandman, Fullington began carrying a Singapore cane to the ring during his 1994 feud with Tommy Cairo as a reference to the caning of Michael P. Fay in Singapore. World Championship Wrestling In 1999, he joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He first appeared in vignettes promoting Raven as a spoiled rich kid and Fullington as his preppy friend, but the original plans to debut under this gimmick were scrapped due to negative undertaker fanfic reaction. In late 2002 and early 2003, the undertaker wrestler Sandman had tenure in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), joining former-ECW wrestlers Justin Credible and Raven along with New Jack and Perry Saturn in a stable known as the Extreme Revolution. At the Extreme Championship Wrestling he won: the Eastern Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship (1 time), the ECW World Heavyweight Championship (4 times), and the ECW World Tag Team Championship (1 time) - with 2 Cold Scorpio. While in Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling gathered the FMW Brass Knuckles Tag Team Championship (1 time) - with Joey Padgett. In Future of Wrestling wins the: FOW Hardcore Championship (1 time). Pro Wrestling Illustrated Ranked #250 of the 500 best singles wrestlers of the PWI Years in 2003. The Stars and Stripes Championship Wrestling made the undertaker wrestler a SSCW Heavyweight Championship (1 time). At Total Nonstop Action Wrestling he won Hard 10 Tournament winner (2003). In the USA Xtreme Wrestling gathered the: UXW United States Championship (1 time). The Westside Xtreme wrestling made him: wXw Hardcore Championship (1 time). And the Xtreme Pro Wrestling gave him the: XPW World Heavyweight Championship (1 time), and the XPW King of the Death match Championship (1 time), also the WEW Tag Team Championship - with Kohduh Fuyaki (1 time), and the UWF Universal Heavyweight Championship (1 time) and finally the USA Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship (1 time). In 2005, Sandman participated in the ECW reunion show Hardcore Homecoming against longtime rival Raven. Two nights later he appeared at the WWE produced One Night Stand pay-per-view event, another ECW reunion show, teaming with Tommy Dreamer to face The Dudley Boys.
