Adam Joseph “Edge” Copeland Bio

Adam Joseph Copeland, also known as, “Edge” was born on October 30, 1973 in Toronto, Canada. He is currently the world heavy weight champion of the World Wrestling Entertainment’s Smack Down brand.

Edge first married his long time sweetheart Alanya but eventually divorced. He then got married to Lisa on 2004. But the marriage also did not last because of his affair with wrestler Lita (Amy Dumas). And in the process, he also lost his best friend, co-wrestler, Matt Hardy, when he stole Lisa from him. Edge and Lisa divorced in 2005.

Edge Wrestling Career

During the 90’s, Edge wrestled for many independent promotions in Ontario as well as the US using the name Sexton Hardcastle. Showing a lot of potential, he was signed by the then WWF in 1998. On his debuted, he was teamed up with his friend and former tag team partner, from independent promotions, Christian. Together, they won 7 WWE tag-titles.

But they eventually dropped the brotherhood tag team storyline with an on-screen feud. In 2002, he was sidelined for the better part of the year due to a neck injury that required surgery. His scheduled to come back to the ring on February 2004 was thwarted due to another injury, this time to his wrist. But on the same year he got a place on the RAW brand in the draft lottery and by April 2004, had won the RAW tag team title with Chris Benoit.

Further, in Vengeance 2004, edge went solo and took the title from, 9 month, title holder, Randy Orton. But again, due to an injury at a non-televised wrestling match, edge was stripped of his title. By this time, his character is portrayed as a crazy feuding wrestler, with severe anger management problems.

Edge In The WWE And RAW

He won the WrestleMania 21 “Money-in-the-Bank” Ladder match which earned him a match for the WWE heavy weight championship. At around this time, Edge was having his extra-marital affair with Lita. No longer able to contain himself over the affair, Matt Hardy made a shocking appearance during a feature match between Edge and Kane and attacked Edge backstage and on the ring while threatening him and Lita. He lost his chance to win the heavy weight championship when he lost to heavy weight champion, Batista. But the feud between Edge and Hardy was not at all ended. They continued to battle each other such as in 2005 summer slam where Edge won over Hardy, and in Raw where they both ended up being brought to the hospital.
