Jim Ross Bio
The voice of the World Wrestling Entertainment, Jim William Ross was born on January 3, 1952. Better Known as Good Ol’ JR or JR. JR is currently assigned as an announcer and executive working on its RAW brand. JR is the best wrestling announcers in the history of WWE and hence the name “the voice of WWE”. JR suffers from Bell’s palsy, which paralysis’s Ross’ facial muscles, and even so JR has become one of the utmost wrestling commentators like Gordon Solie. JR known for his brand resistol cowboy hat along with own brand of barbecue sauce, beef jerky and cookbooks. Career Jim Ross Early Career Jim Ross In college JR had some experience commenting on the college’s radio. Because of this experience JR was hired as a sideline commentator, since an announcer in one territory was a no show for a night. JR worked for the Mid-South territory, becoming the front play by play man in 1986. His debut World Title match was between Ric Flair and Ted DiBiase. JR joined Jim Crockett, Jr.’s UWA & NWA and succeeded Gordaon Soli and Tony Schiavone as front play by play man. JR continued with Jim Crockett Promotions, till it became WCW. JR while working his way up the ladder, had a debatable relationship with Eric Bischoff. Eric while doing a really good job of selling himself to the executives of WCW, got himself promoted to executive producer in 1992, Eric fired JR from the company. JR bought off his contract, Mick Foley says that JR resigned from WCW. Jim Ross WWE Career WWE hired JR, after WCW. WrestleMania IX saw JR’s first appearance. JR took aver for Gorilla Monsoon on WWF. Bobby Heenan and JR were a team, until Heena packed his bags and left WWF. JR was promoted to the host of Radio WWF, which lasted a little under a year. In the role Ross was joined by co-host such as Johnny Polo and talked to various WWF superstars and fans. On February 11,1994 JR was fired from his duties. RAW JR then took up the job of an announcer for Smoky Mountain Wrestling and for the Falcons.In 1994, Vince McMahon was not able to continue commentating on Monday Night RAW, he being indicted. Gorilla Monsoon took over the play by play for a few weeks, and then to fill in for Vince WWF rehired JR back who was commentating with Randy Savage. JR was fired again by the WWF when McMahon returned after his acquittal. JR was again rehired in 1995, just in time for WrestleMania XI. In September 1996 JR turned heel a very first move for his career. JR made his feelings for Vince McMahon very clear by running a his infamous promo in which he ran down Vince. JR hosted many WWF programs until 1997. JR once again was the main voice of WWF, starting for the Survivor Series. JR’s 3 year contract expired in 2006. JR works on a week to week basis for WWE.
