Chris Benoit Bio
Born May 21, 1967, Christopher Benoit is a Canadian Professional Wrestler. He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment wrestling on its ECW brand. Growing up Chris Benoit, worshiped the Dynamite Kid to such an extent that he styled himself after him. This had such a large influence on Chris Benoit that he wanted to become a wrestler. When did actually begin wrestling he would wrestle as “Dynamite” Chris Benoit. Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were best friends. Career Chris Benoit Chris Benoit began his career in 1985 in Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling Promotion. Chris Benoit’s debut match was a Tag Team Match on November 22, 1985 in Calgary, Alberta. Chris Benoit won several International Tag Team Championships and British Commonwealth titles. Stampede shut closed its doors in 1989 and Benoit joined New Japan Pro Wrestling. Chris Benoit trained a year in NJP Wrestling’s “New Japan Dojo” before he could debut. At NJP Wrestling he was known as The Pegasus Kid and pitted against luminaries like Jushin Liger, The Black tiger and El Samurai. 1990 saw Chris Benoit win his first major Championship, the IWGP Junior Heavyweight. Chris Benoit left Japan to compete in Mexico and Germany, where he won a few regional championships including the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship. Extreme Championship Wrestling Chris Benoit ECM, saw Benoit joining them in 1994. Chris Benoit came to be known as The Canadian Crippler. Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko won the ECW Tag Tag Team Championship from Sabu and The Tazmaniac in February 1995. World Championship Wrestling Chris Benoit Under the talent exchange program of New Japan Pro Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Chris Benoit signed with WCW in late 1995/early 1996. Chris Benoit in WCW had the longest matches against many of his former rivals in Japan. Chris Benoit became a member of the Four Horsemen, with Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman in 1995 when he impressed his higher-ups. In 1999, Benoit teamed with Dean Malenko once again and defeated Curt Hennig and Barry Windham to win the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Together Chris Benoit, Malenko, Perry Saturn, and Shane Douglas formed "The Revolution". The Revolution were a group of younger wrestlers who felt slighted by WCW management, believing they never gave them the chance to be stars, pushing older, more established wrestlers the top spots instead. Benoit left the company, the day management promoted Kevin Sullivan to head booker, along with Eddie Guerrero, Deam Malenko, and Perry Saturn. Chris Benoit WWE Career Chris Benoit, debuted in WWE as a part of the group called The Radicalz, consisting of Guererro, Saturn and Malenko, aligning them with WWF Champion Triple H and becoming a heel faction. SmackDown! Chris Benoit won his first title in WWF at WrestleMania winning the Intercontinental Championship in a triple threat match, pitted against Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle's. Almost in the same time period Chris Benoit wrestled in his first pay per view main events, challenging the The Rock in July 2000 for the title. Chris Benoit was drafted to SmackDown! by Vince McMahon. Chris Benoit won the 2004 Royal Rumble by eliminating the Big Show, with this win, Chris Benoit became one of only two men to enter at #1 and win the Royal Rumble (Shawn Michaels being the first). Raw Royal Rumble 2007 saw Benoit being eliminated by the Great Khali. The Crippler Crossface, Chris Benoit’s signature move, is borrowed from Dean Malenko. WWE’s Chris Benoit has the highest amount of 4 3/4 star matches from Dave Meltzer for one person in the country. WWE’s Chris Benoit became the first man to end a WrestleMania main event with a submission win.
