John Charles Layfield was born on November 39, 1966 in Abilene Texas. John Charles Layfield is also known by his current ring name John "Bradshaw" Layfield or JBL. JBL is a retired American professional wrestler. JBL is still works for WWE on Friday Night SmackDown! as a color commentator. JBL is a regular panelist for Fox News Channel’s The Cost of Freedom shows and previously has appeared on CNBC. JBL is a successful stock market maharishi. JBL has also written a best selling book on financial planning called “Have More Money Now”. JBL also hosts a nationally-syndicated weekend talk radio program syndicated by Talk Radio Network. Career JBL Football Career JBL JBL was a successful collegiate football player for Abilene Christian University. JBL signed with the Los Angeles Raiders as an undrafted free agent, but was released before the 1990 season began. JBL did play the world league of American Football, starting 10 games of the 1991 season at the right table for San Antonio Riders. Global Wrestling Federation JBL JBL’s debut was in the Global Wrestling Federation in Texas in 1992. Before he joined GWF he was trained by Brad Rheingans. JBL formed the infamous Texas Mustangs with Bobby Rotter. JBL also went on to win the NWA North American Title. World Wrestling Federation JBL JBL, for the most part of, three and a half years spent touring the independent circuit in various forgettable guises. JBL appeared in WWF in 1995 as “Hawk” Bradshaw. JBL wrested occasionally on TV as a very generic brawler simply known as “Bradshaw”. WWE JBL SmackDown! In 2001, JBL became a multiple time WWE Hardcore Champion. JBL won the title, a record, 18 times. JBL suffered a torn left biceps at a house show event. JBL was in rehab for six months after which he returned to OVH and then a few weeks later to the active WWE roster. JBL formed a tag team with old pal Faarooq and together they named themselves as “enforcers”. The tag team was no more because Faarooq retired from WWE. Later JBL, challenged Eddie Guerrero for the title. At Judgment Day, JBL defeated Eddie Guerrero to win the WWE Championship. JBL won the Royal Rumble in 2005, emerging with his title intact. JBL won the match when Big Show chokeslammed JBL off the top rope through the ring. JBL managed to crawl out from under the ring apron before Show could make it to the floor, winning the match by escape. On the next edition of SmackDown!, JBL had a "Celebration of Excellence" in which he and his Cabinet celebrated the fact that he was the longest-reigning WWE Champion in ten years (since Diesel), a party which was broken up and ruined by newly-crowned #1 contender John Cena. Retirement/WWE Commentator JBL At One Night Stand 2006, Layfield announced that he would take Tazz's place as the new color commentator for SmackDown!. He made his debut as a heelish color commentator on the June 16, 2006 edition of SmackDown!. Retiring from the ring dues to medical complications which include a broken back suffered in a match in England, compounded by a herniated and bulged disc. JBL in November 2006, signed a new deal and returned to action in the ring. On November 13th, 2006, in the main event of a WWE house show in Dublin, Ireland, JBL teamed with Mr. Kennedy and King Booker, against Kane, the Undertaker, and Batista. This is his final match to date, and it took place on the 1st anniversary of his good friend Eddie Guerrero's tragic death.
